Miserable six years.
I had to wear the traditional metal (wires/brackets/rubber bands) braces for six years, and it was a miserable experience the whole time.
The pain of having your teeth being forced into a different position and having metal wires and brackets in your mouth that constantly irritated your gums and inner cheeks and tongue was bad enough in itself.
The extraction killed me! I extracted 6 teeth because of overcrowding and I need to take Panadol as pain-killer.
But I was glad to have braces, they may suck, but it will result in orderly teeth, giving you a charming smile.
I hope you can see my teeth here. It's horrible-looking and it made me very self-conscious when I smile or talking to others =(
AND years later, those metal chains equivalent to a chastity belt of today’s
age were removed and my teeth had a beautiful reunion with chewing gum and
other wonderful non-braces compatible food.
Well, actually I ate all these non-braces compatible food during the grueling six years =P
After the braces come off, it's retainer time.
Tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! No more crooked teeth, no more awkward smile =D =D
I wear retainer at night only and I'm glad that I'm free of braces for good.
